Having experienced so much success in his own competitive shooting career, National Pistol Coach Sergey Luzov is in a good position to tell his athletes that Olympic medals are definitely within their grasp.

Luzov was the running target coach for the National Olympic Team of Belarus from 1991-1994. In 1996, he was offered the chance to move to Colorado Springs, Colo., with his family to take the National Running Target Coach position with USA Shooting. He was just in time to coach the 1996 Olympic Team that traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, and led the final running target squad to the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games before the discipline was removed from the Olympic program.

Coach Luzov was a competitive shooter for 15 years and was the 1986 World Champion and world record holder in running target. He also won three World Cup gold medals while competing for Belarus in 1986 and 1988. Today he coaches the U.S. Pistol Team, helping to develop future generations of pistol shooters to represent Team USA for generations to come.

Luzov earned a master’s degree in coaching from the Belorussia State University of Physical Training and Sport in Minsk.
