Kelsey is a Resident Athlete at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado and is also pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations.  Born and raised in southern Minnesota, Kelsey’s father, Mark, fostered a love for the outdoors with a .22 and a personally welded knock-down target set.  A pastime Kelsey’s special needs older sister, Lindsay, enjoyed as well, the .22 quickly turned to hunter safety courses and certification, practical pistol scenarios, and eventually a twelve gauge Browning BT-99 Micro and clay targets.  Getting her competition shotgun sports start in 1998 with the Amateur Trapshooting Association, Kelsey switched her focus to international trap in 2007.  Making her first USA Shooting National Development Team in 2009 and her first USA Shooting National Team in 2010, Kelsey is proud to represent the United States of America and eager to continue the pursuit of her Olympic dream.

Beyond shooting, Kelsey enjoys spending time with her friends, following her favorite MLB, NHL and College Football teams, refining her golf game, supporting the Texas Country music community, traveling, cooking, hunting & shooting with her dad, and being active with her mother in the disabled adult & Rotary communities.  Her favorite memories include harvesting a 9’ 6” Kodiak Alaskan Brown Bear with her dad and speaking at LifeWorks’ events, a Minnesota-based company committed to serving people with disabilities and their communities in order to foster a greater understanding while living and working together to encourage their goals and dreams.  Kelsey is an accomplished and natural horsewoman, having shown Arabian and Half-Arabian horses to National Championships as a youth rider.  She is also an avid collector of Sperry Top Sider boat shoes, Oakley Frogskins sunglasses and movies.  Kelsey has a Yorkshire Terrier named Lexi, who she refers to as her "permanent puppy." This pint-sized permanent cheerleader accompanies Kelsey to the range and watches each shot no more than fifteen feet from the shooting line.
