Matt Gossett

Date of Birth: 03/11/1992

Hometown: Springville, Ala.

Event: Men’s Trap

Began shooting on his local SCTP team and had immediate success.  After getting bored with the America- style shooting sports, he became interested in Olympic-style shooting and immediately fell in love with the challenging event of bunker trap. Gossett made the USA Shooting Team at  the 2007 Junior Olympic Shooting Championships in just his second national-level match.   When he's not shooting, he's an avid golfer and loves to hunt and fish, particularly bass fishing in some of the world-famous bass lakes in his native Alabama. A former U.S. Olympic Training Center resident athlete, Gossett is presently attending Auburn University and is majoring in pre-med with hopes of attending medical school after graduation in 2014.

Quotable:  "When I first started shooting, I had access to an international trap range near my house, and living in Alabama I was able to go to Fort Benning and shoot quite often. Both at my local range and at Fort Benning I was able train with Olympians and Olympic medalists. Shooting with these competitors forced me to raise my game and strive to be better every day."
