A football coach for many years, Bill McCartney was right when he said that a coach takes players where they can't take themselves.
Regardless of athletic ability, it requires a coach to help take athletes to the next level in their sport. That is why at USA Shooting we understand the impact a coach has on his or her team.
USA Shooting has several programs to help enhance the talents of a shooting coach. See below some of the resources designed to help those who help America's team.
NRA/USA Shooting/CMP Coach Education Program
The Coach Education Program, under the Education and Training Division of the NRA, offers both basic and advanced technical and tactical skills coach training schools for rifle, pistol, shotgun and high power rifle along with training camps and clinics. Training reflects the latest in coaching philosophy and presentation methodology along with the most up-to-date techniques and competition tactics necessary to help you and your team achieve your goals.

Level 1 and 3 Coach Certification Courses
For those coaches who have completed their Level 1 and Level 2 coach certification requirements and are coaching competitive athletes who are interested in the Olympic path, we want to offer you the opportunity to increase your coaching skills by attending a Level 3 Coach Certification Course (rifle or pistol) here at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. We are hoping to pilot the first Level 3 Shotgun Coach Course.
We have set tentative dates for Level 1 and Level 3 Coach Course opportunities in 2012:
- October 4-8, 2012 (arrival/check in on October 4th and departure on October 7th for Level 1 and departure on October 8th for Level 3)
The Level 1 coach course is a two day course. The Level 3 coach course is a three day course. Official registration for October courses begins July 3, 2012. It will be posted to the NRA Training & Education web site, also.
You have a choice of staying on the OTC campus in a dorm room with meals for $135 (Level 1 course) or $180 (Level 3 course) or you may elect to stay off campus. If you stay in the dorms, you will be provided with free airport transportation (arrival and departure) and all meals. The Level 1 Coach Course is registration fee $140 and the Level 3 Coach Course is $160.
These courses are subject to cancelation if a minimum of six registrations is not achieved 32 days before the start of the event. If USAS cancels the course and you paid your registration/dorm fees, you will receive a full refund.
Watch this page for the link to the registration forms.
