Eller Finishes Fifth at World Cup Final

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 4, 2011)

EllerAt the 2011 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Final in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Glenn Eller (Katy, Texas) finished fifth overall in Men's Double Trap.  Eller had a whirlwind of activity in September as he wrapped up the ISSF World Clay Target Championships in Serbia early in the month and then the U.S. Olympic Trials in Kerrville, Texas, last week.  Just one day after his final shots at the Olympic Trials, Eller hopped a plane for Al Ain, to arrive in time for the match, missing official training.  Despite jet-lag and little training on the range in the UAE, Eller shot 136 match targets to tie three other shooters for three spots in the final.  Keeping his cool, Eller nailed two targets to advance the final.  He shot 42 targets in the final for 178 total targets and fifth overall.  The gold medal was a duel between India’s Ronjan Sodhi and China’s Hu Binyuan tied at 187 targets.  Sodhi grabbed the gold after just two targets to Binyuan’s one, who finished with the silver medal.  The bronze medalist was Vitaly Forkeev of Russia with 185 total targets.  For complete scores and rankings, please visit the ISSF website.  Photo ISSF.
