IPC World Cup USA Results: Day 5

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 9, 2011)

The 2011 International Paralympic Committee World Cup USA wrapped up today with competition in 50m Rifle Prone Mixed SH1 (R6) and 50m Free Pistol Mixed SH1 (P4).  The USA’s Sergeant First Class Josh Olson (Spokane, Wash.) finished in eighth overall with 588 match points.  Olson shot 97.9 points in the final to finish with 685.9 total points.  Germany’s Natascha Hilltrop tore up the ranges in Fort Benning, Ga., with 593 qualification points and 101.8 points in the final for the uncontested gold medal.  The silver medalist was Matthew Skelhon of Great Britain with 693.8 total points.  Doron Shaziri of Israel won the bronze medal with 589 match points and 102.1 points in the final for 691.1 total points.    American Sergeant Kisha Makerney (Fort Townson, Okla.) shot 579 match points to finish in the top half of the field.  Tom Monto (Midland, Mich.) and Danielle Fong (New York, N.Y.) shot 574 match points.  Michael Dickey (Trafford, Ala.) finished with 561 points.  Kerry Morris (Grand Prairie, Texas) was just behind Dickey with 560 points. Matthew Shemwell (Knoxville, Tenn.) finished with 546 points and Gregory Drown (Fremont, Ohio) shot 520 points. 

In 50m Free Pistol Mixed SH1 (P4), Eric Hollen (Colorado Springs, Colo.) broke into the final with 522 match points and jumped ahead to fifth place with 95.2 points in the final for 617.2 total points. Azerbaijan’s Yelena Taranova won the gold medal with 539 match points and 89.2 points in the final for 628.2 total points.  Russia’s Sergey Malyshev and Valery Ponomarenko both shot 530 match points, but Malyshev pulled ahead with 93.8 points in the final for the silver medal.  Ponomarenko finished with 91 points in the final for the bronze medal.
