ISSF World Cup Changwon: Day 4 Results

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 12, 2011)

In Women’s 50m Rifle Three Position, every shot counts. Emile Evesque of France (587 points) had a one-point lead over Peijing Li of China (586 points). In her first-ever International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup final, Evesque experienced the disappointment and frustration that comes with a poor shot in the final. In a stroke of bad luck, Evesque shot a 7.7 second shot and was unable to recover from that combined with a few low 9s. Li shot a strong final of 101.1 points to tally 687.1 total points for the gold medal and 2012 Olympic quota place. Evesque finished with 96.5 points in the final for 683.5 total points. Luckily, her initial lead helped her secure the silver medal and an Olympic quota place. The bronze medalist was China’s Li Du with 583 qualification points and 99.2 points in the final for a total of 682.2 points.

In a field of 60 competitors, American Sandy Fong (New York, N.Y.) finished in twenty-first place with a qualification score of 574 points. Olympic Training Center Resident Athlete, Amy Sowash (Richmond, Ky.) shot 572 qualification points.

Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol final competition takes place April 13. This is the only pistol event that USA Shooting Team athletes are competing in. After the first stage of qualification, the scores are as follows: Corporal Brad Balsley (Uniontown, Pa.) with 292 points, Keith Sanderson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) at 289 points and Emil Milev (Temple Terrace, Fla.) with 285 points.
