World Cup Slovenia: Men's Skeet

COLORADO SPRINGS (July 15, 2011)

The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Slovenia wrapped up today with final competition in Men’s Skeet. Top ranked Anders Golding of Denmark shot 124 match targets and 25 straight targets in the final to tie Georgio Achilleos of Cyrpus. In a two target shoot-off, Golding claimed the gold medal as Achilleos only shot one targets for the silver medal. The bronze medalist was Efthimios Mitas of Greece with 123 match targets and 23 targets in the final for 146 total targets. Ralf Buchheim of Germany finished in fourth place with 122 match targets and 23 targets in the final for 145 total targets. Eric Delaunay of France shot 123 match targets and 22 targets in the final for 145 total targets. The sixth place finisher was Tore Brovold of Norway with 124 match targets and 21 targets in the final for 145 total targets.

USA Shooting Team’s Frank Thompson (Alliance, Neb., pictured) finished in twenty-fourth place with 120 out of 125 targets. Teammate Sergeant Vincent Hancock (Eatonton, Ga.) shot 116 targets to finish in sixty-ninth place. Jon Michael McGrath (Tulsa, Okla.) finished with 113 targets. The Team finished with one gold medal and two appearances in the finals by Rachael Heiden (Clinton, Mich.) and Staff Sergeant Josh Richmond (Hillsgrove, Pa.). Many of the American shotgun athletes that shot in Slovenia will also be returning to Europe to appear in the World Clay Target Championship in Belgrade, Serbia, from September 3 to 14.
