Nominations Sought for Board of Directors Election

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (July 18, 2016)

At the March 12, 2016 Board of Directors’ meeting, significant changes to USA Shooting’s Bylaws were enacted.  Those changes include updating the bylaws, adopting best governance practices and improving provisions for resolving formal complaints.  As stated in a previous article, there will be a new USAS Board of Director seated effectively January 1, 2017.  Some current director positions are due for re-election as the 2016 Olympic quadrennial ends.  Those director seats are the Coach/Official, Pistol Athlete representative and USOC Athlete Advisory Council representative.

The amended and restated Bylaws now call for a member club director seat on the Board and four independent directors that replace the previous At-Large director positions. An Advisory Council will also be formed with the chair of that group having a voting seat on the Board.  Therefore, numerous director positions are available for nomination by those meeting the applicable criteria and up for election before year end.

A number of announcements calling for nominations and outlining election procedures follow. These solicitations are included in USA Shooting News and are posted on the USA Shooting website.  It is our desire to have well qualified directors guiding our organization.  You can help drive that effort by recommending good candidates for the available positions.
