Federal Premium Ammunition Announces USA Shooting Team Pro Staff Members Featuring Seven Elite Competitors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (June 4, 2018)

Seven of America’s best shotgun athletes have signed exclusive pro staff agreements with Federal Premium Ammunition as the company forges new pathways for America’s elite shotgun team.

Four of the seven Federal Pro Staff athletes representing USA Shooting. From left to right: Ashley Carroll, Corey Cogdell-Unrein, Jake Wallace and Caitlin Connor.Two-time Olympic gold medalist Vincent Hancock will serve as Federal Premium Ammunition brand ambassador as previously announced May 21 (see release). Joining Hancock on this select squad will be three-time Olympian and two-time Olympic bronze medalist Corey Cogdell-Unrein (Eagle River, Alaska), current World record holder Jake Wallace (Castaic, California), current Junior World Champion Katie Jacob (Rochester, Michigan), three-time U.S. Trap champion Ashley Carroll (Solvang, California), five-time World Cup silver medalist Caitlin Connor (Winnfield, Louisiana) and seven-time U.S. Championship medalist Kayle Browning-Thomas.

“We’re very proud to be part of Team USA and can’t wait to tell the story of these amazing athletes,” said Federal Premium Senior Marketing Director Jason Nash. “This team represents the best competitors and the future of our shooting sports.”

Hancock is a three-time World Champion, the first American shotgun athlete ever to do so. His impressive shooting resume also includes two Olympic gold medals, nine World Cup gold medals, and two golds at the Pan American Games. He is also a decorated military veteran. Hancock served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit and was awarded two Meritorious Service Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Distinguished International Shooter Badge.

In addition to her multiple Olympic medals in three straight appearances, Cogdell-Unrein has earned eight World Cup medals over the course of her career. Her robust social media following and sport presence made her an ideal choice for pro staff consideration.

Wallace has competed in each of the last four World Championships and is bound for another later this summer in Changwon, South Korea. He is one of just 10 men ever to record a perfect score (125) in Men’s Trap after having done so at the 2014 Championship of the Americas. He is primed to help get an American back into the Olympic competition after having no U.S. presence in Men’s Trap in each of the past two Games.

“Having the opportunity to partner with such an outstanding company like Federal Premium is exactly what I have been looking for,” notes Wallace. “We have found a partner that is just as invested in the future of Olympic Shotgun Sports as we are. Their shells are some of the finest in the world and it only makes sense that they would be shot by the world’s finest shotgun athletes.”

The lone junior on the Federal Premium Pro Staff is Jacob, but she’s more than earned her way after winning the Junior World Title in 2017 and looking to repeat in 2018. The 18-year-old skeet sensation also has won both Junior World Cups she’s participated in and was a bronze-medal finisher at a recent Junior Grand Prix event in Porpetto, Italy. She’s also shown her skill in the open ranks as well finishing third and fourth in both World Cup competitions she’s entered.

In addition to her three straight U.S. titles, Carroll has proven she’s one of the top women’s trap competitors in the world, winning two World Cups and finishing sixth at the 2017 World Championships over the past two years.

Competing in the deepest discipline on America’s shooting team currently, Connor continues to assert herself as one of this nation’s best shotgun athletes. She missed the 2016 Olympic Games by one target, finishing second to her teammate Morgan Craftin a shoot-off at the 2015 World Championships. She hasn’t let that miss stop her, earning a spot in the Finals of three different World Cup events ever since, while finishing second in two of them.

“It is very clear to me that Federal is doing everything in their power to perfect our competition loads,” Connor admits. “Every shot counts on the Road to Tokyo, and I am proud to have Federal Premium by my side every step of the way.”

Consistency is the word that comes to mind in describing the USA Shooting career of Browning-Thomas.  You can count on her year-to-year to be in the mix among the top women’s trap competitors in the U.S.  The 25-year-old has earned seven U.S. Championship medals in nine years to go along with four top-eight World Cup finishes.

“It’s a peace of mind knowing I have Federal Premium to train and compete with Tokyo in sight,” Browning-Thomas says. “Competing for my country means I need quality, dependable ammunition and that’s exactly what Federal gives me. I hope to achieve more medals for my country in the upcoming World Cups and other competitions.”

As part of their new partnership with Federal Premium, these athletes will exclusively use the company’s ammunition in competitions and training. They will also make public appearances, assist with videos and photography, and support the company’s diverse social media marketing channels.

These seven athletes will serve as the face of Federal Premium’s support for USA Shooting, a non-profit organization that promotes the shooting sports and prepares American athletes to bring home Olympic gold. Federal Premium recently became the official shotshell ammunition sponsor and supplier of USA Shooting.

Federal Premium Ammunition is currently in production on a new international shotshell specifically designed for the USA Shooting Team featuring their popular paper hull design.
