USA Shooting Fundraising Efforts Now Focused on The Golden State

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (September 11, 2018)

Following a successful North Carolina Fundraiser, USA Shooting is now turning its attention to The Golden State for another key donor event needed to achieve the organization’s 2020 Vision.

More than 35 sponsors, donors and industry partners stepped forward in a big way to help America’s Shooting Team during USA Shooting’s Fundraiser on August 30 at Fork Farm and Childress Vineyards. It was a fitting end to National Shooting Sports Month and a true showcase of the strength and support that can be realized when the shooting industry bands together for an important cause.

Now, USA Shooting is asking for supporters to step up once again in a state that helps produce some of the top Olympic shooting team members and hopefuls. Ten athletes representing Team USA at the 2018 International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Championship call California home including six-time Olympic medalist Kim Rhode (El Monte), and trap world-record holder Jake Wallace (Castaic). Both these athletes along with two-time Olympic gold medalist Vincent Hancock (Eatonton, Georgia) and three-time Olympic rapid-fire pistol shooter Keith Sanderson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) will be present during the event at Oak Tree Gun Club.

One of the most successful junior pistol clubs in the country resides in California with the Bridge Jr. Shooting Club consistently placing athletes on junior teams behind the coaching of In Kim.  Los Angeles Rifle and Revolver has been a top USA Shooting club as well having helped produce Olympians like USA Shooting Hall-of-Famer David Kimes, a 1980 Olympian and two-time World Champion and most recently 2016 David Higgins.

The event will feature a meet and greet athlete reception set for Friday, October 12.  The main event will be an all-day celebration of shooting fun that includes a competitive sporting clays shoot. Other events will include 3-gun, archery and international skeet.  The day will conclude with a VIP dinner and auction. The home shooting range of Kim Rhode, Oak Tree Gun Club is Southern California’s premier shooting facility, and the perfect venue to help support America’s Shooting Team on their Road to Tokyo 2020.  Nestled between Interstate 5 and the Santa Susana Mountains in the Santa Clarita Valley, located on 100 acres of privately owned land, this family-run business operates a state-of-the art shooting facility offering shotgun, rifle and pistol shooting, as well as archery ranges. Many of Hollywood's most notable celebrities have frequently visited Oak Tree's shooting fields in its earliest days. Among the many celebrities that have visited Oak Tree, some names include Charlton Heston, Roy Rogers, Steven Spielberg, and director John Milias. California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, also visited shortly after filming Conan the Barbarian (1982), and Robert Stack of The Untouchables (1959-1963) was often seen sipping coffee at the clubhouse on Saturday mornings.

Oak Tree Gun Club is steeped in tradition from its founding days under the direction of Booge Mercer to the present. Today, Oak Tree Gun Club offers the most complete shooting venue in Southern California. Oak Tree is often featured in magazines, movies, and television shows, some of which include Entourage (HBO), NCIS (CBS), and The Rock of Love (VH1). Numerous Federal, State, and Local law enforcement agencies also train at the facility. Oak Tree employs over 40 staff members who work hard to ensure that shooters have a great experience. From the novice to the expert, the shooting venue is always comprehensive and challenging.

Helping drive further support for America’s Shooting Team athletes that depend heavily on private donation will be an exciting list of auction and raffle items that includes guns, gun cases, ammunition, targets, knives, coolers, hunting clothing, and a variety of different hunting and fishing packages. Outfitters supporting USA Shooting for this event include David Denies and Global Sporting Safaris.

As one of the only non-government supported shooting team in the world, USA Shooting relies heavily on donors and sponsors to help maintain a history of success that includes 110 Olympic medals.

“USA Shooting’s 2020 vision can only be realized by the involvement, generosity and backing of the shooting industry and with two years to go before the next Olympic and Paralympic Games, key partners and supporters are stepping up to assist America’s shooting team athletes,” said Keith Enlow, CEO of USA Shooting.
