Personal: Matt Chezem was introduced to high power rifle shooting by first learning to shoot the same type of rifle his grandfather used in World War II, an M1 Garand. He soon joined the Los Angeles Rifle and Revolver Club. In 2012, he won gold in the Men’s Prone event at the National Junior Olympic Shooting Championships where he tied a then National Record (598 of 600). He also placed second in Junior Men’s Prone at the 2012 USA Shooting National Championships.

Chezem competes as a member of the University of Akron rifle team where he is majoring in Nutrition
