Personal: Alfred Page "Al" Lane was born to Frederic and Louise Lane in 1891 in New York. As a young boy, Lane began shooting at the Manhattan Rifle and Revolver Association, training in pistol. By the age of 19, Lane was already dominating the United States Revolver Association (USRA) Championship matches. After the 1912 Olympics, Lane continued to win the USRA Championships and held the three-year win streak.
After his successful career at the Olympic level, Lane was employed by Remington Arms, as not only as a company advertiser, but also as the head of the photography department for their magazine publisher. His medals are still proudly on display in the National Rifle Associations National Firearms Museum.
Lane is shown coaching police officers in the photograph above.
