USA Shooting Team Foundation Biographies

Jim Mitchell, President - 

Together with his daughter Betsy James, Jim is the owner-operator of both the LA Clays Shooting Park and The Oak Tree Gun Club, two of the Nation's foremost shooting facilities located in Southern California. Both locations host numerous nationally recognized shooting sports events including Rifle, Pistol, Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays and Olympic Bunker Trap.  The facilities offer the community unique opportunities to develop lifelong memories in the shooting sports through sales and service as well as specialized training and instruction from certified experts including former USA Shooting Olympic Team members. Jim and Oaktree are proud to support many charitable organizations in the shooting sports, outdoor and hunting arena, as well as community organizations such as law enforcement (LAPD, CHP, LASD) and Olympic shooting hopefuls at all levels and ages. 

Jim is both an NRA Patron Life Member and a Golden Ring of Freedom recipient. Jim is the past President of the Southern California Safari Club and currently serves as Vice President and Secretary of Shikar Safari Club Foundation which ensures the future of wildlife through conservation, education, and hunting. 



Dan Genter, Executive Vice President - 

Mr. Genter is President, CEO & Chief Investment Officer of RNC Genter Capital Management. He joined the firm in 1979, became a Vice President in 1983, and was made a partner a year later. Before assuming his current position, Mr. Genter was responsible for developing the firm’s Private Client and Entertainment Divisions, which included elite clients in entertainment and professional sports. In 1992 he assumed his current role when the firm was purchased by Bank Austria. In 1998 Mr. Genter repurchased the firm and is now the primary shareholder. He is also managing shareholder of Genter Airways LLC and Falcon Air LLC. 

Mr. Genter is often called upon by the media for his perspective on the financial markets. He is a regular guest on CNBC, Fox Business Channel and Bloomberg Television. Additionally, he can often be heard on Bloomberg Radio, where he is a popular commentator, and is frequently quoted in major print publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Barron's, BusinessWeek, USA Today and The Washington Post. 

Mr. Genter serves on the board of the California Highway Patrol Foundation and is past Chairman of the Board. He is also on the board of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the USC Marshall School of Business. Past board memberships include the Young Presidents Organization where he was a founding member of the Bel-Air Chapter. He was recently appointed as Executive Vice President of the USA Shooting Team Foundation for the USA Olympic Shooting Team.


Randal Garret, Vice President Development - 

Randal Garrett resides in Texas.  He has enjoyed a 30-year career in the oil and gas industry. Upon graduating from Texas A&M University, he worked for a couple of major oil companies on many diverse projects both domestically and internationally.  With his vast experience in drilling and completion operations, he consulted for 15 years for various companies in the industry.  During this time, he started his own business, Randal Garrett Consulting Company and worked as a VP of Operations for PPI Technology Services, a worldwide consulting firm with multiple companies under its umbrella. In 2014 he went to work and became a partner at WildHorse Resources, an oil and gas exploration and production company that started as a private equity backed company, was taken public (WRD), and later sold to Chesapeake Energy Corp. in 2019. At WildHorse he served as Sr. VP of Drilling and Special Operations Projects.  He is currently the manager and owner of Randal Garrett Consulting Company, which provides engineering and operations consulting to the petroleum industry as well as investing in business opportunities. 

Randal and his wife T.Kay support many organizations, helping raise substantial funds for children’s charities, conservation, and the shooting sports.  They have a passion for shooting and the outdoors and getting kids involved in shooting and the outdoors.  They both have been shooting competitively for over 30 years.  They currently volunteer as the coaches for their sons' high school shooting team and as coaches (T.Kay is also Athletic Director) for the Katy Dusters Sportsman’s Club – a local youth shooting sports team growing rapidly with almost 100 members that competes in skeet, trap, and sporting clays through SCTP, 4-H, NSSA, and NSCA.

Chris Dewitt, Vice President East - 

Chris DeWitt joined the NRA Office of Advancement in 2013 and brought with him big plans that include doubling Ring of Freedom membership.

He previously worked on Gov. Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign and other past experiences included serving as a marketing manager for Lacrosse and managing and promoting world-ranked boxers.

From a young age, DeWitt has been a proud Second Amendment defender. He grew up in Riverside, California and learned to shoot at the age of 12 when he was visiting his uncle in Louisiana. Now his favorite way to spend his afternoon is to take his Browning 12-gauge out for trap or sporting clays or visiting the river to catch some fish.



Anne Brockinton Lee, Vice President West  

A native of Charleston, South Carolina, now living in Lake Tahoe Nevada, is the sole Trustee of the Robert M. Lee Foundation which concentrates on conservation and preservation efforts worldwide as well as the sole Trustee and Conservator of the Robert M. Lee Automobile Collection. Cars from The Collection compete at the leading Concours d’Elegances globally and most entries being acknowledged with Class and Best of Show Awards.
Anne has been a shooter since she was a young girl and an avid hunter since meeting her late husband, Bob. In 1990. Mr. Lee endowed the American Gallery of Arms and Armor at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Anne serves on the Visiting Committee of The Arms and Armor Department there.
She also serves on many National and International Boards including the University of Montana’s Wildlife Leadership Council, CIC Advisory Delegation, NRA’s Women’s Leadership Forum, NRA's Hunting & Wildlife Conservation Committee and previously, on the NRA Foundation.
She is a Lifetime Member of the NRA and SCI, a Charter member of NRA’s Hunters' Leadership Forum, and a member of CIC, the Boone and Crockett Club, established in 1887 by Theodore Roosevelt, and Shikar Safari Club International, where her husband was a member since 1962.
Anne is passionate about Sport Shooting and supporting our USA Olympic Shooting Team as they compete and represent our country in The Olympic Games.

C.R “Bubba” Saulsbury, Jr., Vice President South Central  

Bubba Saulsbury currently serves as Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy for Saulsbury Industries and as a member of the Board of Directors. Saulsbury Industries is a second-generation, family-owned business focused on delivering quality EPC projects predominantly in the oil and gas industries. Bubba has played a significant role in not only the growth and expansion of the organization for the past three decades, but in perpetuating the reputation it has of delivering exceptional quality projects safely. 

A native West Texan, Bubba, started his career with the family business over 30 years ago in the field on the construction projects. Soon after, he found his true calling in sales and business development, and, as the company's only salesman, he was responsible for the creation and growth of the company’s sales, marketing, strategy, public relations, and communications. 

 In 2018, Bubba was named Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy. Along with the development of an overall corporate strategy, his responsibilities include evaluating various industries, markets, and sectors, as well as opportunities for mergers and acquisitions.  

In addition to his role overseeing strategy for the company, he has become very involved in the political world by supporting candidates and organizations that champion the conservative movement that brings our country back to the cornerstones of liberty and prosperity our founding fathers intended. Bubba also leverages his ability to connect with others and develop new opportunities by setting the gold standard for fundraising in the political arena.

Bubba is an avid outdoorsman who had the great fortune to grow up hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Once he realized the transformative experience these activities had on him and how it taught him valuable life lessons, he was compelled to create a foundation, named The Bubba Foundation, which focuses on offering opportunities for youths and the less fortunate to experience the joys of the outdoors, through hunting and fishing. 

Beyond his role at Saulsbury, Bubba's entrepreneurial spirit shines through in his numerous investments in oilfield service companies and oil and gas interests. He also supports the local economy through his funding of various real estate investments such as restaurants, bars, commercial properties and industrial developments. Bubba also continues to provide for the Odessa community through his service on the Downtown Odessa board for 10 years, the Odessa Chamber of Commerce the United Way Foundation for many years. in addition, Bubba continually donates to many local charities and champions many local causes that help enrich the Odessa community. 


Paul Checketts, Vice President Secretary 

Paul is a Senior Vice President and Private Wealth Manager in Merrill Private Wealth Management. Paul delivers the firm's capabilities to highly successful individuals and family groups with significant wealth. With over 20 years of experience in investment management and financial services, Paul and his team provide a conduit to clients across all of the firm's business lines.

Prior to joining the firm Paul was an Executive Director in the Private Bank at J.P. Morgan for over seven years and previously worked at both Deutsche Bank and Northern Trust where he was a Senior Banker working with Global Family Offices. Paul began his career at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in 1997 which later merged with Credit Suisse. During this timeframe Paul built a significant wealth management business.

Originally from Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe California, Paul served as an Executive in Residence for the Banking and Finance Industry at the UCLA Anderson School of Management from 2011 to 2017 which provided mentorship to UCLA MBA students. Paul holds a BA from UCLA and an MBA in Finance from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Married with a son (12) and daughter (10), Paul lives in Manhattan Beach and enjoys coaching baseball and softball, the outdoors including camping, fishing and skiing, competitive sailing, and traveling.


Rick Steiner, Vice President Treasurer 

Rick Steiner resides in Colorado and is a Principal of Steiner Enterprises, KRN Management Company, and KRN Properties. Rick and his business partners manage a diversified business portfolio. Rick is also on the Board of Directors of Air Comm Corporation (ACC), a closely held business that supplies environmental control systems to the general aviation industry, and to a variety of U.S. Army helicopters. ACC has facilities in Westminster, Colorado, and Addison, Texas. With a work force of approximately 125 people, a sophisticated test lab, and an engineering staff of approximately 25 engineers, designers, and draftsmen, Air Comm Corporation is a market leader in thermo management applications and products. The company has content with over 50 different types of aircraft.

Prior to working at Air Comm Corporation, Rick served as the Vice President of Strategy at PAE International, a $500 million dollar per year government services company. PAE holds numerous service contracts with the U.S. government, and performs work in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. PAE provides aviation services, operates U.S. facilities and bases, operates logistics distribution networks, and provides military and police training. Prior to working for PAE, Rick worked for Lockheed Martin’s Readiness and Stability Operations business unit as a Strategic Planning Director. Rick enabled Lockheed Martin to win and perform business in Afghanistan, Iraq, Djibouti, and West Africa.

From 1985 to 2008, Rick served in the U.S. Army, first as an Infantry lieutenant, and then as a Special Forces officer. 

As a lieutenant, Rick was a rifle platoon leader, mortar platoon leader, rifle company executive officer, and assistant brigade operations officer, all in the U.S. Army Berlin Brigade.  

After completing Special Forces Assessment and Selection and the Special Forces Officer Qualification Course in 1990, Rick was assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Rick Served as a Detachment Commander, Battalion Adjutant, and Headquarters and Support Company Commander from 1991 to 1995, leading his company on Operation Restore Democracy in Haiti. Rick returned to 3rd SFG(A) in 1998 to command a Special Forces Company and serve as a Battalion Operations Officer, leading his company on the African Crisis Response Initiative mission to train the Benin Army in West Africa in 1998. 

From 2001 to 2004, Rick served as the Current Operations Director at U.S. Special Operations Command – Europe, conducting operations in Kosovo, Cote d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone, and Liberia, and running Exercise FLINTLOCK in South Africa in 2003. 

From 2004 through 2007, Rick served as the Deputy Commanding Officer of 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), and concurrently as the Deputy Commanding Officer of Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Arabian Peninsula (CJSOTF-AP) in Iraq. 

CJSOTF-AP controlled two Special Forces battalions, a Naval Special Warfare Task Group, and a Special Operations Aviation Task Group, and had over 3,000 Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, allied SOF, and Iraqi Soldiers and Special Operators assigned to it. CJSOTF-AP conducted Special Operations throughout Iraq; from Baghdad and Sadr City north to Mosul and Kirkuk and west to Fallujah, Ramadi, and the Syrian Border.  During Rick’s tenure in Iraq, the insurgency was at its height, and CJSOTF-AP conducted thousands of raids and other special operations during that time period. Green Berets, Navy SEALS, and their Iraqi allies assigned to CJSOTF-AP killed or captured tens of thousands of insurgents and former members of the Iraqi Army and Republican Guard during this period of the Iraq War.

Rick’s awards and decorations include two awards of the Bronze Star Medal, and multiple awards of the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. Rick earned the Combat Infantry Badge, Special Forces Tab, Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, the Military Freefall Parachutist Badge, and the Pathfinder Badge.

Rick earned a Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and a Master of International Relations from the University of Oklahoma, as well as a Certificate in Strategic Management from Harvard Business School. While a Cadet at West Point, Rick shot on the intercollegiate pistol team.

 Rick is single and has two adult children.

 Rick is the Vice President of the Board of the Special Forces Charitable Trust. Rick is an avid wildlife conservationist, shooter, and hunter, and is a member of the Board of Directors Shikar Safari Club, and a life member of the National Rifle Association, Safari Club International, and the Dallas Safari Club.


Roger Norman, Board Member Special Projects 

Born in Tacoma, WA, and raised in San Diego, CA, Roger Norman began his professional career in real estate development.  Roger moved to Reno, NV in 1990 and is currently involved in various businesses including: land development, general contracting, property management, the off-road racing series SCORE International, an off-road touring company, a full-service Casino, and a military arms manufacturing company.  Currently he is focused on designing and engineering arms for the US Military and continuing to promote the SCORE World Desert Series via the online magazine SCORE Journal, movies, and books. He has published 2 books chronologizing the 50-year history of the iconic races, the Baja 1000 and Baja 500. Shortly, Roger will be unveiling his new TV channel which will highlight the SCORE racing series and its rich history. 

Roger’s hobbies are many and include racing, shooting, bow shooting, hunting, scuba diving, surfing, weightlifting and travel.  He has received many awards including Honorary Ambassador to Baja California, Honorary Commander of the Nevada Air National Guard, and Honorary Washoe County Sheriff. His passion for electronics were rewarded by receiving the award for ‘Most Integrated Home in the World’ in 2017 and ‘Most Integrated home in North America’ in 2020, for two separate properties.  Roger was the Overall Winner of the Baja 1000 in 2008 and is amongst a small group of racers who can claim that honor. 

Personally, Roger married Elise Alessio in 1993.  They reside in Reno, NV, and work closely together.  Roger and Elise are very philanthropic and support multiple charities in the U.S. and abroad.


K. Michael Ingram, Board Member 

In 1987, Mike Ingram, founded El Dorado Holdings, Inc., a Phoenix based land and development business, and as CEO has built the company into one of the largest private land holdings in the greater Phoenix and Maricopa County region, with holdings exceeding $1.0 billion. Since El Dorado’s inception, Mike has acquired, managed, developed and sold tens of thousands of acres of property throughout Arizona, plus numerous office buildings and commercial centers. 

Prior to his involvement with El Dorado Holdings, Mike Ingram was president of one of the largest animal health distribution companies, Sunwest, Inc. Sunwest held 12 branch offices in 8 states, and was frequently recognized by the industry for growth, management and performance. 

A New Mexico native, Mike, graduated from Roswell High School in Roswell, New Mexico. Following high school, he attended Texas Tech University, and in 1966 received a Bachelor of Science degree from New Mexico State University. 

Mike is a member of many business and civic organizations and serves on a number of local and national boards, including the Arizona Commerce Authority, U.S. Department of Interior International Wildlife Conservation Council, National Rifle Association Hunting & Wildlife Conservation Committee, Safari Club International Foundation, Shikar Safari Club International Foundation, Arizona-Mexico Commission, Mayo Clinic Arizona Leadership Council, Joe Foss Institute (Emeritus) Goldwater Institute (Emeritus) Southern Nazarene University Foundation, Barrow Neurological Foundation (Emeritus), Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) Foundation, C.M. Russell Museum, Scottsdale Museum of the West, the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, and is one of the owners of the Arizona Diamondbacks, a Major League Baseball team. He is also actively involved with Pinnacle Forum, Focus on the Family, and Campus Crusade for Christ and its ministries within. 

In April 2019, Mike received the 2019 Horatio Alger Award from the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc., and was recognized for having succeeded despite facing adversities, and remaining committed to higher education and charitable endeavors throughout his lifetime. 

Mike and his wife, Sheila, reside in Phoenix, Arizona, and have six children, twenty-one grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
