ISSF World Cup Changwon: Men's 50m Rifle Three Position Results

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 14, 2011)

The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Changwon World Cup wrapped up with the Men’s 50m Rifle Three Position final. Sanjeev Rajput of India was the top competitor, shooting 1176 qualification points and 102.2 points in the final for the gold medal and quota place. In the final, Rajput overtook qualification point leader Ole Kristian Bryhn of Noway to finish with 1278.2 total points. Kristian was leading with 1177 points, but lost his focus in the final, shooting only 94.9 points to finish with 1271.9 points. The silver medalist was Nemanja Mirosavljev of Serbia with 1172 qualification points and the second-highest final of 100.5 points for 1272.5 points. The USA’s Sergeant Joseph Hein (Mason, Mich., pictured) entered the final with 1168 qualification points and shot for 98.2 points in the final for seventh place at 1266.2 total points. Fellow American Matt Wallace (Fairbanks, Alaska) finished in the middle of the field with 1153 qualification points.

With over 500 athletes from 58 different federations, the ISSF World Cup Changwon provided stiff competition from powerhouses such as China and Serbia. The USA Shooting Team finished second in overall medal standings with two gold medals and one silver medal. The Chinese took home top honors with six total medals. Serbia came in a close third with a medal in every color. The next ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup will be held on home soil in Fort Benning, Ga., from May 14-23.
