ISSF World Cup Beijing: Men's Trap Results

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 27, 2011)

Giovanni Cernogoraz of Croatia upset Russia’s Alexey Alipov in the Men’s Trap final of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Beijing. Alipov entered the final with 123 targets—a two target lead over the rest of the competition. He had trouble in the final with 21 out of 25 targets. Cernogoraz was hot on his heels as he shot 121 targets in qualification and 24 out of 25 targets in the final to secure the gold medal and quota place for Croatia with 145 total targets. This victory was Cernogoraz’s first ISSF World Cup medal since he began shooting in 1998. Alipov finished with the silver medal at 144 total targets. The bronze medalist was Jiri Gach of the Czech Republic who shot 120 targets in qualification and 23 targets in the final for 143 total hits.

The USA Shooting Team’s Collin Wietfeldt (Hemlock, Mich.) narrowly missed the final with 118 qualification targets—a score of 119 targets entered a shoot-off for the final. Wietfeldt (pictured above) finished in twelfth place overall. Staff Sergeant Ryan Hadden (Pendleton, Ore.) shot 113 targets to finish in the middle of the field.
