ISSF World Cup USA: Men's Rapid Fire Pistol

FORT BENNING, Ga. (May 21, 2011)

In its third appearance on the International Shooting Sport Federation’s (ISSF) World Cup circuit, the Men’s Rapid Fire Pistol final continued to excite the crowd. Christian Reitz of Germany was the gold medalist with an exciting 29 hits and four hits in the shoot-off. Reitz (pictured) was the bronze medalist at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and this is his first ISSF World Cup medal of the year. India’s Vijay Kumar kept the crowd in suspense as he fired five hits in the eighth series to tie with Reitz for 29 hits. He won the silver medal with one hit in the shoot-off. This is also Kumar’s first ISSF World Cup medal of the season. His most recent accomplishment was an eleventh place finish at the ISSF World Championships in 2010. The bronze medalist was Ding Feng of China with 24 hits in the final. Last year Ding topped the podium in Men’s Rapid Fire Pistol.

The USA Shooting Team’s Sergeant First Class Keith Sanderson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) of the U.S. Army’s World Class Athlete Program finished in fourteenth place with 578 points. Teammate Emil Milev (Tampa, Fla.) finished with 573 points and Sergeant Brad Balsley (Uniontown, Pa.) finished with 569 points. For complete scores and results, please visit the ISSF Website.
