World Cup Munich: Men's and Women's 10m Air Rifle

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 18, 2011)

At the first day of competition in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Munich, the Chinese Men’s 10m Air Rifle athletes were on target. Qinan Zhu of China fired 599 qualification points and the highest final of 104 points to win the gold medal with 703 total points. Teammate Tao Wang shot 598 qualification points and 103.5 points in the final to finish with 701.5 points for the silver medal. The bronze medalist was Jozef Gonci of Slovekia with 599 qualification points and 100.8 points in the final for 699.8 total points. The USA Shooting Team’s Corporal Matt Rawlings (Wharton, Texas) finished in seventeenth place with 595 points. His American teammates Bryant Wallizer (Little Orleans, Md.) shot 594 points and Jonathan Hall (Carrollton, Ga.) shot 582 points.

In Women’s 10m Air Rifle, China continued to increase its medal count with a gold medal victory from Jieqinog Xie with 399 qualification points and 104.5 points in the final for 503.5 total points. The Czech Republic’s Katerina Emmons (pictured) earned the silver medal with 398 qualification points and 103.8 points in the final for 501.8 points. Emmons’ teammate Adela Sykorova won the bronze medal with 398 qualification points and 103 points in the final for 501 total points. The USA’s Emily Caruso (Fairfield, Conn.) finished in twenty-fourth place with 396 qualification points. Sarah Scherer (Fort Worth, Texas) and Amy Sowash (Richmond, Ky.) both shot 395 points.
