World Cup Munich: Women's 50m Rifle Three Position & Men's 10m Air Pistol

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 21, 2011)

In the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Munich, the German team used hometown training to its advantage in Women’s 50m Rifle Three Position. Both Germany—Sonja Pfeilschifter and Barbara Lechner made appearances in the final. With the crowd cheering for her, Pfeilschifter won the gold medal with 585 qualification points and the highest final of 102.1 points. She finished with 687.1 total points. The silver medalist was Stine Nielsen of Denmark with 586 qualification points and 100.5 points in the final to finish with 686.5 total points. China’s Xiangyan Wan finished with the bronze medal and 585 qualification points. Wan shot 97.5 points in the final for a total of 682.5 points. The USA Shooting Team’s Jamie Beyerle (Lebanon, Pa.) finished in fourth place overall. Beyerle (pictured) fired 585 qualification points and 97.2 points in the final for 682.2 points. Teammate Sarah Beard (Danville, Ind.) finished in thirty-first place with 579 qualification points. Amanda Furrer (Spokane, Wash.) shot 576 qualification points.

In Men’s 10m Air Pistol, Yusuf Dikec of Turkey shot 586 qualification points and 101.3 points in the final to secure the gold medal with a total of 687.3 points. Dikec won by just four-tenths of a point over Serbia’s Andrija Zlatic, who shot 584 qualification points and the highest final of 102.9 points. Zlatic finished with 686.9 total points for the silver medal. The bronze medalist was Daemyung Lee of Korea with 585 qualification points and 99.3 points in the final for 684.3 points. The USA’s Brian Beaman (Selby, S.D.) narrowly missed the final. Beaman fired 582 qualification points to tie six other shooters for only two spots in the final. Beaman shot 49.4 shoot-off points to finish tenth overall. Teammate Sergeant First Class Daryl Szarenski (Seale, Ala.) shot 580 qualification points and finished in twenty-first place.
