USA Shooting Board of Directors Welcomes Genter, Garrett, and Bassham as Newest Members

Colorado Springs, Colorado

The USA Shooting Board of Directors (BOD) met on January 26th to approve the seating of three new directors. Dan Genter and Randal Garrett were approved as Independent Directors, and Troy Bassham was elected as the Coaches and Officials Representative to the Board. Genter, Garrett, and Bassham will serve four-year terms on the BOD, and the filling of these positions brings the USAS BOD to the full complement of twelve directors.

The BOD approved a new board composition in December to come into compliance with the Empowering Olympic, Paralympic, and Amateur Athletes Act of 2020 signed into law last fall.  These changes and the increase in athlete representation bring USA Shooting into compliance with the Empowerment Act nearly a year ahead of the deadlines set by Congress.

“As a national governing body run predominantly by former National Team members, we are excited about the increased representation and responsibility being given to our athletes. Troy will bring fundamental knowledge in his role as Coaches and Officials Rep, and I’m excited to watch our two newest Independent Directors [Dan Genter and Randal Garret] combine their business experience and passion for our sport to directly impact our organization,” said Matt Suggs, USA Shooting CEO

In addition to the seating of the new directors, USA Shooting’s board reelected Chad Whittenburg, Rick Marsh and Ana English to their officer positions as Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Treasurer, respectively.

“Today’s vote to reappoint the USAS Board officers to another term is just another affirmation to me that we are continuing to move as an organization in a positive direction,” said Chad Whittenburg, Chairman of USAS BOD. “I have enjoyed working alongside both Rick Marsh and Ana English and remain humbled to be asked to serve as Board Chairman. It is an honor to represent the athletes and staff in this role with Matt as our CEO. With the addition of our three new board members, we are now staged for the future better than ever and ready to tackle the next steps needed to implement our Strategic Vision, we will push on and we will succeed!”
